Turning bush into Butter!
It was an informal family photo.
The difference between this photo and the one on page nine was that the people on this photo are not standing still.
I can see the cows, the cat and the dogs.
The father and mother are milking cows.
This family is a Maori family.
The photographer was Edward George Child.
This shows what was happening to the forest. It was taken during time of great change, when huge areas of our native bush were being destroyed.
A quicker way of getting rid of native bush was burning it.
The two stories told by this photo is farmers being able to farm but the forest being destroyed.
The hill in the background shows how forests were destroyed for farming.
